This is a 1946 Booker T. Washington Commemorative Half Dollar, issued to honor the legacy of the influential African American educator and leader. This coin was part of the inaugural series authorized by Congress to commemorate Washington’s birthplace in Franklin County, Virginia. Featuring a profile of Booker T. Washington on the obverse and an engraving of his cabin on the reverse, it reflects both historical and numismatic significance. A remarkable example of mid-20th century commemorative coinage.
